Formed in 2009 by the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation – Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal – with the purpose of recovering, studying, and disseminating the vast and yet largely unknown Portuguese musical heritage of the 16th and 17th centuries, the Cupertinos vocal ensemble, initially called Cappella Musical Cupertino de Miranda, has established itself as a true ambassador of Portuguese Polyphony.

Cupertinos has unearthed 18 previously unheard works by renowned Portuguese master Duarte Lobo, which are included on this recording for the Hyperion label.

Within the scope of its purpose of encouraging musical and poetic activities, the Cupertino de Miranda Foundation has promoted a set of five music and poetry recitals in the first semester of each year since 2009.
